One PHD

Karen's post today on Cotton Spice reminded me that I really
need to finish hand stitching closed my basket liner.
I have two of these baskets which store
my rapidly expanding quilting supplies.
Although it is functional the way it is, it is one of my PHDs
(Projects Half Done), hmm it probably has been that way
for well over a year, I must be turning into a real quilter.
The pattern is from Australian Country Threads vol 4 no 8,
special stitchery edition and is designed by Leanne Beasley

Larissa, I love your stitching. What a great idea. Can you tell me which issue it was in? I found your blog through cottonspice.com. I try to fit in some scrapbooking as well (when there is time).

Hi all, thanks for your wonderful comments, the pattern is in Australian Country Threads, Vol 4 No 8, published in November 2004. Check out http://paddysdaughter.blogspot.com/2008/04/never-too-late.html for another beautiful example. Larissa

Hi Larissa,

They look great! Coincidentially I have just bought another basket that I shall line too - plan to use it to keep my "ever expanding collection" of wool and silk embroidery threads!

Oh I love these basket liners - I just wish that I could get the magazine here in the UK - might have been able to if it was in a current issue - but one from 2004 - no chance - I love Leannes blog - and have to say that when I found it by accident nearly a year ago - it really got me hunting blogs and now starting one - I look forward to visiting your blog again and seeing what you have been up to

Beautiful stitching Larissa!

Thanks for visiting my blog! To answer your question on the crown, it was loosely based on a pattern in the book The Creative Family by Amanda Soule. But really I just folded some paper in half so both sides would match and made a rough sketch. It is far from perfect, but seems to please the 3 year old!
